THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	PRINCE EVLANOFF (S Khumalo) was slow into stride.
b)	NORDIC REBEL (W Kennedy) was stubborn loading.


THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	WHAFEEF (R Danielson) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter hung in from the 200m.
	When questioned regarding his riding on WHAFEEF, Jockey Danielson explained to the Board that it had been his instruction to drop out from a wide draw.  He further added that the pace in the initial stages was slower than he would have liked and this had resulted in WHAFEEF over-racing to a certain extent.  He further explained that this colt had then hung in in the straight.  Jockey Danielson's version was corroborated by the patrol film of the race.
b)	NORDIC REBEL (W Kennedy) hung in in the concluding stages.
c)	In view of the performances of WHAFEEF (R Danielson), (betting 9/2, distance 3,75 lengths) and LEOPOLD (K de Melo), (betting 33/10, distance 4,00 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses.
d)	BACK TO BLACK (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer R R Magner advised (LN).
When questioned regarding the improved performance of BACK TO BLACK, Trainer Magner could offer the Board no suitable explanation.  His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running.

JOCKEY CHANGES:

a)	PRINCE EVLANOFF was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (declared 12 June 2022 at 08H29).

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
