THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TRUMPS EXPRESS (JP van der Merwe) was nervous in the stalls.
b)	MACTAVISH (*KA Brewer) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gate.
c)	I'M IN CHARGE (*Y Ramzan) was nervous in the stalls, rushed the front gate and fly-jumped and thereafter was slow into stride.
d)	BROADWAY (R Fourie) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	TRUMPS EXPRESS (JP van der Merwe) pulled hard in the early stages.
b)	From a wide draw KING OF LUV (*K Strydom) was unable to obtain cover, was ridden forward from the 1000m and tired quickly from the 150m. In view of this report, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
c)	Jockey S Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking IDEAL TIME more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey S Khathi used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level. 
d)	ALMAS TOWER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. (LM)
