THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STEPPING OUT (C Habib) was restless in the stalls. b) SKY RUNNER (D Schwarz) was slow losing three lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BYE BYE BIRDIE (S Khumalo) hung out from the 400m. Thereafter, Jockey S Khumalo reported that BYE BYE BIRDIE changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. b) At approximately the 250m, GLOBAL BREEZE (P Strydom) switched in to avoid running onto the heels of FLOW FOREVER (N Klink), which shifted out away from the crop c) MERIDIUS (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A B Fortune advised (GF). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BYE BYE BIRDIE was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (declared 25 June 2022 at 08H48). b) GLOBAL BREEZE (Race 3) and QUEEN BRITANNA (Race 4): Jockey P Strydom weighed out at 58,1kg, 2kg over the carded weight of which 1kg was declared. Jockey P Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horses GLOBAL BREEZE and QUEEN BRITANNA, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey P Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and a penalty of a Warning was imposed. The Board treated these two offences as one. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SKY RUNNER raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 22 June 2022 at 09H27). b) STEPPING OUT raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 22 June 2022 at 15H26).
