Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, POCKETFULLOFSTARS (J Greyling) became restless resulting in PLUM VOLANTE (D Schwarz), SARAYU (C Zackey), QUEEN BRITANNA (P Strydom) and SKYFULL (R Munger) breaking through the front gates. They were restrained by their Riders, returned to the start, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded, except for SARAYU (C Zackey), which was scratched by the Veterinary Surgeon. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 200m, I AM WHO I AM (C Habib) had to ease off the heels of ASHANTI SWORD (*K A Brewer), which shifted in away from the crop. As a consequence, SILK GARDEN (G Lerena) was carried in. Apprentice K A Brewer was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of ASHANTI SWORD, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SILK GARDEN (G Lerena) and I AM WHO I AM (C Habib) when he shifted in at approximately the 150m. Apprentice K A Brewer signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. Suspension dates: 6 July 2022 to 12 June 2022 (both days inclusive). b) Jockey B Nyawo reported that LENI GIRL changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Habib was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride the horse I AM WHO I AM out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey C Habib signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed. d) ASHANTI SWORD (*K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee H Chauque, acting on behalf of Trainer G J Maroun, was advised (GF). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) QUEEN BRITANNA: Jockey P Strydom weighed out at 58,1kg, 2kg over the carded weight of which 1kg was declared (Refer to Race 3 - page 4). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SONG OF ANGELS raced equipped with ear muffs (declared 27 June 2022 at 11H40). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LENI GIRL examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) SKYFULL fatigued. c) SILK GARDEN mouth injury. SCRATCHED: a) SARAYU injured in the stalls (NHA / 14H08) Betting 50/1. Suitable for reinstatement. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
