Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GIMME THE BEST (K Steyn) was fractious in the stalls. b) CAPITAINE MAURICE (L Mxothwa) was restless in the stalls, dropped its head down as the start was effected and jumped awkwardly, carrying FUTURE SWING (R Fourie) outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 350m CAITLYNS BOY (O Noach), which raced green, was steadied and switched inwards when close to the heels of GIMME THE BEST (K Steyn), which raced green and rolled out. b) At the 300m GIMME THE BEST (K Steyn) was steadied away from the heels of LIGHT TO HEAVEN (D Ashby) which rolled out slightly. c) I DID IT MY WAY (K de Melo) was unable to secure clear running in the straight and was momentarily inconvenienced when tightened for galloping room between FURIE NOCTURNE (G Cheyne) and CAPITAINE MAURICE (L Mxothwa) at the finish. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GIMME THE BEST (K Steyn), Trainer PP Kruyer will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. e) Trainer PP Kruyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that failed to vaccinate GIMME THE BEST against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer PP Kruyer signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) LANG'S POWER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Arnold, acting on behalf of Trainer C Bass-Robinson, was advised.
