THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NORDIC REBEL (G Lerena) was stubborn loading. Trainer E Verdonese was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (JB). b) NORDIC REBEL (G Lerena), ESKIMO PIE (D De Gouveia) and NOBLE SNIPER (*G Pieterse) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) NORDIC REBEL (G Lerena) was baulked for a clear run from the 200m to the finish. b) Jockey W Kennedy reported that CITY BY THE SEA took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that ULTRA QUICK did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) CASTLETOWN (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
