Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PEAK PREDATOR (K Matsunyane) was difficult to load. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer J Crawford was advised (GT). b) SUMMER SHADE (M K Katjedi) was restless in the stalls and reared as the start was effected. Stable Employee J Webber, acting on behalf of Trainer B Webber was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). c) PIBE DE ORO (S Khumalo) reared in the stalls. d) PEAK PREDATOR (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) A race review was called into the start of this race with regards SUMMER SHADE (M K Katjedi) in stall gate 1. The Stewards established that this gelding was restless, reared, dislodged Jockey M K Katjedi and got its front legs caught up in the adjacent stall, as the start was effected. When assessing this incident, the Stewards were of the view that the front gates had opened on terms, that the Handler had released this gelding timeously and that the incident was as a consequence of SUMMER SHADE's own behaviour and in terms of the provisions of Rule 61.5.10.3 was declared a runner. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to PEAK PREDATOR, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 23 March 2025 to 29 March 2025. PEAK PREDATOR may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer J Crawford was advised. c) HEMISPHERE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (SM). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PEAK PREDATOR mouth injury. b) SUMMER SHADE abrasion right front. c) THE REAL DEAL not striding out left front; overreach left front.
