THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ACT OF MERCY (G Lerena) was slow into stride. b) MRS BROWNING (M Yeni) was stubborn loading. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GAETANA (J R Syster) which was encouraged forward from a wide draw, raced wide around the turn and into the straight. b) Leaving the 1000m, INVENTRIX (S Khumalo) was brushed out by MYCHANCETODREAM (P Strydom) which was switched out to avoid running onto and clipping the heels of OUTLAW (C Habib). c) Jockey C Zackey the rider of SIMPLY MAGIC accidentally dropped his crop at the 200m. d) INVENTRIX (S Khumalo) hung in in the concluding stages. e) MRS BROWNING (M Yeni) raced green. f) Shortly before the finish line, SIMPLY MAGIC (C Zackey) was carried in marginally by MRS BROWING (M Yeni) which whilst racing green, rolled in in the concluding stages. g) Jockey G Lerena (ACT OF MERCY) and Jockey R Danielson (KITTY CORNER) reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. h) MRS BROWNING (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) GAETANA raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 28 June 2022 at 09H06). b) INVENTRIX raced with a tongue tie on (declared 5 July 2022 at 09H06). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ACT OF MERCY examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) KITTY CORNER blowing. c) BELLE OMBRE coughing. d) INVENTRIX not striding out right front. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
