Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, STAR COIN (P Mxoli) and JORDAN (C Maujean) came together and bumped. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HAWKBILL (S Khumalo) was directed outwards from the 700m to obtain a run parallel to the outside running rail. Thereafter, this gelding shifted both ways away from the crop from the 300m. b) Jockey M Yeni (WHAFEEF) did not persevere with his riding from the 500m. Thereafter, Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with WHAFEEF in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) BIRTHRIGHT (K A Brewer) raced prominently throughout and thereafter tired badly from the 200m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performance of NATYAM (G Lerena), (distance 8,75 lengths, betting 7/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) APACHE SON (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer T Zackey advised (SM). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WHAFEEF abnormal respiratory noise; fatigued. b) NATYAM blowing post race. c) BIRTHRIGHT examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
