THE STARTER REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, MIDNIGHT GEM (C Zackey) became restless, rushed the front gate resulting in this filly losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the loading process, MIDNIGHT GEM (C Zackey) became restless and in anticipating the start, nudged the front gates as the start was effected. This resulted in the left-side front gate bouncing back and making contact with Jockey Zackey's left elbow. The Board after reviewing the start of this race, was satisfied that this incident was solely due to horse behaviour, that MIDNIGHT GEM had suffered no impediment and therefore deemed her to be a runner. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that SWEET SENSATION changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that SLALOM QUEEN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) ALL OF ME (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Spies advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) MAY QUEEN was ridden by Jockey D Schwarz (declared 7 July 2022 at 09H36). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MAY QUEEN raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 30 June 2022 at 11H50). b) MIDNIGHT GEM raced equipped with blinkers and with a pressure halter on (declared 6 July 2022 at 08H10). c) ALL OF ME raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 30 June 2022 at 11H50). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SWEET SENSATION not striding out right hind. b) SLALOM QUEEN examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
