Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SPACE ODDITY (*S Hlengwa) nudged the front gates open and cantered a short distance, was returned to the start, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay.
b)	UNDER MY HAT (G Cheyne) was stubborn loading and kicked the back gates of the starting stalls.
c)	COLORAMA (T Gould) and WITH OUR BLESSING (K Minnie) were nervous in the stalls.
d)	BENEFICIARY (F Herholdt) was nervous and reared in the stalls.
e)	CRAFTY HEART (R Khathi) and MAIDEN'S COVE (JP van der Merwe) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Approaching the 200m BENEFICIARY (F Herholdt) and WITH OUR BLESSING (K Minnie) were tightened for galloping room and had to be steadied between SPACE ODDITY (*S Hlengwa) and CRAFTY HEART (R Khathi), which shifted out away from the crop. Jockey R Khathi appeared before the Board and was advised to react sooner when required to straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
b)	Jockey Y Ramzan reported that SHEEBA DARLING took no interest in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
c)	In view of the performance of WINTERTIME (R Fourie) (Betting 5/1 ; Distance 13.75) which, from a wide draw, was unable to secure cover and raced wide throughout, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
d)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding SPACE ODDITY (*S Hlengwa), Trainer GD Smith will be advised to have this filly re- schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
e)	OPERA SWING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. (SP)
f)	DUTCHESSBURNEDETTE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (SP)
