Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LIZADO (D De Gouveia), LEMME GO (M Khan) and CENTRAL CITY (C Zackey) were slow into stride. b) BLACK LIGHTNING (J R Syster) and OATHKEEPER (*G Pieterse) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BLACK LIGHTNING was unruly and reluctant proceeding to the start and had to be led. Thereafter during the loading process, BLACK LIGHTNING continued to misbehave, dislodged its rider and broke free from the Handler. This gelding was taken in-hand, reunited with its rider, checked by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Trainer F P Habib was advised that should this gelding behave in similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) Shortly after the start, LOVE ME AGAIN (P Strydom) was carried inwards by BLACK LIGHTNING (J R Syster) which jumped in sharply leaving the stalls. Thereafter BLACK LIGHTNING failed to muster speed on debut and raced detached from the field throughout. c) OATHKEEPER (*G Pieterse) commenced to give ground to the field from the 200m and thereafter Apprentice Pieterse reported that the saddle on OATHKEEPER slipped back in running. d) LIZADO (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B B Ruiters advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD (GB) was ridden by Jockey R Danielson. b) LOVE ME AGAIN was ridden by Jockey P Strydom who weighed out at 57,9kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) BLACK LIGHTNING raced fitted with a pressure halter (declared 5 July 2022 at 10H30). b) RUN FOR COVER raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 8 July 2022 at 08H35). RUN FOR COVER new ownership: Messrs Greg Bortz, R F V de Abreu, A C Fortune, A Reynolds & F Vahab (colours:- Aquamarine, dark grey seams, aquamarine sleeves, dark grey armbands, striped cap) sold with engagements. c) TEXAS RED raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 8 July 2022 at 08H35). TEXAS RED is a gelding, incorrectly carded (gelded 20 April 2022). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LOVE ME AGAIN cut into left nostril. b) TEXAS RED scalped right hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
