THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 300m, SMILEY RIVER (S Khumalo) was steadied momentarily in anticipation of being awkwardly placed between, GO DREAM MACHINE (R Munger) and CRUSADE TO ROYALTY (*K A Brewer), which shifted out away from the crop from the 400m. Thereafter, approaching the 100m, GO DREAM MACHINE (R Munger) was carried out marginally by CRUSADE TO ROYALTY (*K A Brewer), which continued to shift out away from the crop. Apprentice K A Brewer appeared before the Board and was advised to be more mindful of his position relative to other runners as well as to take more care when shifting ground in races. b) ONTHEVERGE (K de Melo) took an awkward stride shortly before the finish line. c) ZAZU (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
