The start of this race was delayed due to the 30 minute interval between races and the delay in the previous race.

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	BROADWAY GIRL (S Veale) lost 1 length. 
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	As the start was effected CAPSAICIN (R Munger) was bumped in by PALERMO (K Matsunyane) which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. 
b)	IMPERIAL POWER (S Moodley) over-raced in the early stages.
c)	At the 300m IMPERIAL POWER (S Moodley) was switched out off the heels of CAPSAICIN (R Munger) which had come to the end of its run. 
d)	In view of the performance of CAPSAICIN (R Munger) which over-raced in the early and middle stages and tired rapidly from the 400m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
e)	An Inquiry will be opened to establish why Trainer F Robinson failed to deliver the passport for SHOOT THE RAPIDS not later than 60 minutes before the official starting time of its race.
f)	KAYGEE'S DELIGHT (S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller was advised (DZ).
