THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CORVETTE CAPTAIN (K de Melo) and BABY DONT HURT ME (W Kennedy) were slow into stride. b) CROSS EXAMINER (S Khumalo) stumbled shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BABY DONT HURT ME (W Kennedy) raced fiercely and in advance of the field in the early and middle stages. b) LIZADO (D De Gouveia) hung in from the 300m. c) COMING IN HOT (G Lerena) hung in from the 200m. d) In view of the performance of MEET THE CAPTAIN (R Fourie), (distance 6,80 lengths, betting 33/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) COMING IN HOT (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
