THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DESERT CRUSADER (Wes Marwing) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1100m, MATHIS (W Kennedy), which rolled out entering the turn, was steadied to avoid the heels of CONSTABLE (R Fourie). b) Leaving the 300m, CONSTABLE (R Fourie), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied in anticipation of being awkwardly placed on the inside of TUSCAN WINTER (G Lerena), and the outside of SOUND OF HOUNDS (P Strydom), which rolled outwards and was immediately straightened. c) Jockey Wes Marwing reported that DESERT CRUSADER changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) TUSCAN WINTER (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (AH). e) TWOSIDESTOASTORY, scratched at the start, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W C Marwing advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
