Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RALPH THE RASCAL (K de Melo) lost one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 1100m, DOCKOFTHEBAY (S Khumalo) made contact with the inside running rail when over-racing in the early stages. As a result, DOCKOFTHEBAY (S Khumalo) had to be restrained off the heels of ARTIC TUNE (M Yeni) which rolled in marginally. Thereafter, Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with DOCKOFTHEBAY in the running and as a result did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) PURPLE NKANYEZI (S Moodley) was hanging in from the 400m. c) TREAD SWIFTLY (*M Katjedi) was hanging in from the 150m. d) Apprentice S Hlengwa signed an admission of guilt for Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse DESOLATE ROAD more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Apprentice S Hlengwa struck the horse DESOLATE ROAD, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. e) SILVER FALCON (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J S Snaith advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) TOP WESSELTON was ridden by Jockey A Mgudlwa (advised 17.07.22/7h58). b) SIKHULU raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
