Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	GRAZINGINTHEGRASS (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls.
b)	GREAT WARRIOR (M Mjoka) stood awkwardly in the stalls.
c)	LEGITIMATE (W Kennedy), ASSURED (*S Sosibo), FIRST STREET (M van Rensburg) and JACOB'S LADDER (*P Mxoli) were slow into stride.
d)	MARMARA SEA (G Cheyne) stumbled leaving the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	The cornell collar on CHRISTOPHER ROBIN (S Devoy) was attended to at the start.
b)	Shortly after the start ASSURED (*S Sosibo) was squeezed out between CHRISTOPHER ROBIN (S Devoy) and HERODOTUS (A Domeyer).
c)	An inquiry will be opened to establish why MARMARA SEA and GREAT WARRIOR had to ease at approximately the 1700m. 
d)	The saddle on LEGITIMATE, which was hanging in throughout slipped forward, placing Jockey W Kennedy at a severe disadvantage. As a consequence, he did not persevere with his riding in the closing stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine.
e)	Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.18 in that he swore at a licensed official at the start whilst riding NEVER ENDING RAIN. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R5000.00.
f)	HERODOTUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing, acting on behalf of Trainer JA Janse van Vuuren, was advised. (SP)
