Stipes Report
BOWIE (R Munger) refused to load and was subsequently withdrawn by the Starter. The field was unloaded and time was taken to allow the betting public to restructure their bets. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BOWIE (R Munger) refused to load and was subsequently scratched. b) THE GLIDING FISH (C F Dicken) stood, losing 6 lengths. c) MISTER NIBBLES (*J Botes) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start the saddle on MAGMA MAGIC (C Habib) slipped back significantly. This placed Jockey Habib at a severe disadvantage and as a consequence he eased this gelding out of the race at the 1400m. This incident was confirmed by the Stewards. b) SPARKLING JUBILEE (T Godden) hung in from the 200m. c) MISTER NIBBLES (*J Botes) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. d) WORLD OF OUR OWN (G Lerena) hung in, in the concluding stages. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BOWIE (R Munger), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 24.03.2025 to the 30.03.2025. BOWIE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised. (SN) f) In view of the Starter's report with regard to THE GLIDING FISH (C F Dicken), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. After Trainer A Wright was questioned regarding the improved performance of WORLD OF OUR OWN and receiving no suitable explanation, the Board have adjourned to interview Jockey Zackey regarding his ride on this gelding on the 02 March 2025.
