THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CLAP OF THUNDER (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) CENTRAL CITY (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) SKYJET (*K A Brewer) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, CLAP OF THUNDER (K Matsunyane) jumped awkwardly inwards making contact with the right-side front gate. b) ATTICUS FINCH (C Habib), which jumped outward leaving the stalls, and GLOBAL BREEZE (M Khan) came together and brushed. c) Jockey Wes Marwing reported that he felt something amiss with JIVKO DRAGANOV in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning JIVKO DRAGANOV, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer D C Pretorius was advised e) ATTICUS FINCH (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (AH). f) CENTRAL CITY (G Lerena), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P A Peter advised (HK).
