THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SUPER NOIR (P Strydom), ALMIGHWAAR (R Munger) and DRENGS FERRY (*K Strydom) were stubborn loading.
b)	YOUNG NELSON (E Webber) was nervous in the stalls.
c)	MASTER VISION (M van Rensburg) was nervous in the stalls and stood awkwardly.
d)	JACK AND GINGER (L Mxothwa) kicked the back gates.
e)	WITH OUR BLESSING (S Devoy) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gate.
f)	MAGARI (Y Ramzan) jumped slow, losing one length.
g)	WILLO'THEWISP (K Minnie) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	YOUNG NELSON (E Webber) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.
b)	WILDEST DREAMS (X Ndlovu) was hanging in from the 300m.
c)	Jockey P Strydom reported that SUPER NOIR took no interest in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 500m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)         Jockey S Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ELLIS ISLAND more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account his recent record, the distance over and manner in which Jockey S Khathi used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level.
e)	WILDEST DREAMS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (SP)
