THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GAL GADOT (*P Mxoli) was stubborn to load and slow into stride. Trainer S Naidoo was advised to re-school this mare prior to her next engagement (LAS). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 300m, SPACE RACE (*R A Venniker) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the outside of GAL GODOT (*P Mxoli) which was carried out by BABY DONT HURT ME (M Yeni) which rolled out. b) Shortly before the finish line, GAL GADOT (*P Mxoli) had to steady momentarily when running into restricted galloping room between FEATHER THE NEST (G Lerena) and TWICE AS WILD (K Matsunyane). c) Apprentice R A Venniker (SPACE RACE), Jockey K Matsunyane (TWICE AS WILD) and Apprentice P Mxoli (GAL GADOT) reported that their respective mounts changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. d) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking FEATHER THE NEST more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times that Jockey Lerena used his crop (13) as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (3). e) RED CARPET GIRL (N Klink), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee T Mavuka advised (DR). f) LAETITIA'S ANGEL (R Munger), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A B Fortune advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SCOTTADITO raced without a compression mask and equipped with blinker pacifiers (declared 8 August 2022 at 10H28). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SPACE RACE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) TWICE AS WILD examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) GAL GADOT not striding out left hind. d) RED CARPET GIRL coughing.
