Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SKY RUNNER (J R Syster) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SHIPS AT SEA (*K A Brewer) and GIMME ROYALTY (*S Sosibo) which jumped inwards, came together and bumped. b) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking BIG FIVE more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. Dates of Suspension: 23 August 2022 to 29 August 2022. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times that Jockey Lerena used his crop (14) as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline which was (6) transgressions inside the preceding 60-day period. c) TARA ITI (*J Solomons), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J A Visser advised (GF). When questioned regarding the improved performance of TARA ITI, Trainer Visser could offer the Board no suitable explanation. Trainer Visser's attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. d) BIG FIVE (G Lerena), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J S Roux advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CHASIN and SKY RUNNER raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 3 August 2022 at 08H02). b) TARA ITI raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 4 August 2022 at 13H52) and raced without blinkers (declared 11 August 2022 at 12H07).
