THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WILLIAMTHEFIGHTER (G Lerena) was slow losing three lengths and thereafter slow into stride. b) ULTIMA ICTU (*S Sosibo) was slow losing one length. c) DIL DEEWANA (M van Rensburg) reared in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TEXAS RED (R Munger) proved reluctant proceeding to the start and had to be led. Trainer A B Fortune is to be advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) WILLIAMTHEFIGHTER (G Lerena) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, was slow away and as a result raced at the rear of the field in the early and middle stages. c) TEXAS RED (R Munger) hung in from the 400m. d) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with DIL DEEWANA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) TEXAS RED (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer K Mayhew advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
