THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINGS OF NIKE (*S Sosibo) was stubborn loading. b) EDGARTOWN (M Yeni) reared in the stalls. c) ADMIRALTY ARCH (D De Gouveia) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DAISY BUCHANAN (J Penny), EDGARTOWN (M Yeni), TRUST THE FIRE (C Habib) and WINGS OF NIKE (*S Sosibo) were carried out from the 500m to the 400m by STORMY LASS (G Lerena) which hung out from the 600m. b) At approximately the 500m, PHINDA MZALA (J R Syster) was steadied and switched in when attempting a run between MERCER GIRL (*P Mxoli) and DAISY BUCHANAN (J Penny) which rolled out marginally and was corrected. c) TRUST THE FIRE cast a shoe at the 400m. d) Shortly before the finish line, PHINDA MZALA (J R Syster) was steadied whilst attempting a run in restricted galloping room between STORMY LASS (G Lerena) and STORMY SEAS (K Matsunyane) which hung out from the 200m. e) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with TRUST THE FIRE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) STORMY SEAS (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Magner advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) STORMY SEAS was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 11 August 2022 at 08H26).
