THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DEAN STREET (S Khumalo) jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DEAN STREET (S Khumalo) got its head on one side, hung in and raced awkwardly on the bend. b) In view of the performance of MARIA QUEROL (C Habib), which was hanging out throughout, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Leaving the 400m PACK LEADER (G Behr) raced onto the heels of a tiring MAJOR ATTRACTION (R Munger) and had to be steadied. d) Jockey D Ashby (SUGAR MOUNTAIN) dropped his crop leaving the 200m. e) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with MAJOR ATTRACTION, which tired quickly in the straight. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) SUGAR MOUNTAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (SC) g) HAN SOLO, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised.
