THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	FLIGHT ENGINEER (*I Taka) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	The start of this race was delayed due to lightning in close proximity to Fairview Racecourse.
b)	After being dislodged in Race 1, Jockey A Arries was examined by the course Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding.
c)	WAR LOVER (A Arries) took an awkward stride shortly after the start.
d)	GARDEN SUN (C Little) was hanging in from the 350m.
e)	CHIEF RUNNER (C Maujean) shifted slightly outwards away from the crop at the 100m.
f)	WAR LOVER (A Arries) was directed outwards off the heels of FLIGHT ENGINEER (*I Taka) to obtain clear running at approximately the 100m.
g)	The saddle on STAR TROOPER (S Fortune) slipped forward in running. This was confirmed on the video footage.
h)	In view of the performance of PRINCESS BEAUTIFUL (R Fourie), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
Jockey R Fourie was questioned with regard to the performance of PRINCESS BEAUTIFUL. He explained to the Board that this filly did not seem to enjoy the wet underfoot conditions on the polytrack. This was also her first time racing in blinkers. He could not ascertain whether the filly was not enjoying the conditions or if there was a medical issue and, as a consequence, he did not persevere with his riding from approximately the 200m. Jockey R Fourie was advised that he is obligated to report circumstances that would impact on the performance of his mount in future engagements, in terms of the Rules.
i)	CHIEF RUNNER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM)
