Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	BRANDENBURG (*C Dicken) was stubborn to load. Trainer N Kotzen was advised to re-school this gelding. 
 
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	WINTER PEARL (S Khumalo) over-raced in the early and middle stages, proving difficult to assist. 
b)	Shortly before the finish, WINTER PEARL (S Khumalo) which was hanging in, was steadied in anticipation of being awkwardly placed on the heels of BRANDENBURG (*C Dicken) which rolled out and HIGH MOON (C Habib) which rolled in. This precluded Jockey S Khumalo from riding this gelding out to the end of the Race. Thereafter, Jockey S Khumalo reported that WINTER PEARL changed stride in the running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
c)	Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse CLEAN SLATE more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse CLEAN SLATE, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed.
d)	PEDRO (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Karriem advised (DZ).
