THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m, SIR MICHAEL (S Khumalo) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between BARNEY'S PRIDE (R Danielson) and KAPTEIN (K Matsunyane). b) Jockey K de Melo reported that LEOPOLD changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) VANDERBILT (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P A Peter advised (AH). d) SIR MICHAEL (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Dawson advised (HK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
