THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TOP QUALITY (K de Melo) and DUBAI LIGHTS (S Khumalo) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Leaving the 50m SOMERSET MAUGHAM (R Fourie) and TOP QUALITY (K de Melo) made contact when TOP QUALITY (K de Melo) rolled in slightly. Thereafter, SOMERSET MAUGHAM (R Fourie) rolled in away from TOP QUALITY (K de Melo) and was brushed on the hindquarters by BARATHEON (L Mxothwa) at the finish.
b)	Jockeys S Mbhele and JP van der Merwe reported that SABINA'S PRODIGY and NORTHERN SONG respectively made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
c)	Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on BARATHEON. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00.
d)	TOP QUALITY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (JF)
e)	BARATHEON, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer PAW Botha was advised. (CvA)
