Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JUSTAGUYTHING (*R Venniker) and GENERAL HANCOCK (J Gates) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, GENERAL HANCOCK (J Gates) was buffeted between MAJORCA PALACE and TWO OF US (*D Geerthsen) which was bumped out by WE ALL CHOMIES (*S Hlengwa) which jumped outwards. As a consequence of this incident, GENERAL HANCOCK (J Gates) became unbalanced, was squeezed out and took up a position at the rear of the field. b) WE ALL CHOMIES (*S Hlengwa) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. c) Shortly before the finish, METALLIC GOLD (S Moodley) was carried out by KNIGHT WARRIOR (M Yeni) which rolled out. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that MAJORCA PALACE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of TWO OF US (*D Geerthsen) (7.70 lengths, 5/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse METALLIC GOLD more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse METALLIC GOLD, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop in relation to this Rule, the fact that he won the race and his record (3) in relation to this rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. g) METALLIC GOLD (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) TWO OF US : Nothing obvious detected. b) MAJORCA PALACE : Coughing.
