THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLEET COMMANDER (K de Melo) was stubborn to load. b) BAY OF DREAMS (*R Venniker) slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SHADOWBREAK (M Mjoka) raced wide throughout. Thereafter this gelding compounded in the straight. b) WYLIE RILEY (R Khathi) shifted both ways away from the crop between the 350m and 100m. c) Approaching the 200m, DIANI (S Khumalo) was switched in to obtain a clear run. Thereafter, this colt finished its race off strongly. d) Jockey M Yeni reported that RAPTOR ISLAND coughed in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey R Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse WYLIE RILEY more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey R Khathi struck the horse WYLIE RILEY, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. f) DIANI (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SHADOWBREAK raced equipped with blinkers and without ear muffs (advised 05.09.22/8h03). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
