THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HOMELY GIRL (K de Melo) hung in from the 300m. Jockey K de Melo appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride in the concluding stages. He explained to the Board that this filly had hung in in the straight and adopted an awkward action over the final 200m of the race. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer J J van Vuuren was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables b) FOLLOW ME (J R Syster), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
