Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	OVER THE BAY (*M Katjedi) and DOUBLE ESPRESSO (S Moodley) lost two lengths. 
b)	HE'SMAKINGEYESATME (K Matsunyane) jumped awkwardly and lost two lengths. 
 
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	From a wide draw, HE'SMAKINGEYESATME (K Matsunyane) raced around the field and to the lead at the 1500m.
b)	Shortly before the finish, LIVING WATERS (A Arries) was carried in marginally by LUCRETIUS (*C Dicken) which shifted in away from the crop and was immediately straightened. 
An Objection was lodged by Trainer M Prinsloo on behalf of the second placed horse (LIVING WATERS) against the winner (LUCRETIUS) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered the proximity of the incident to the finish-line and the marginal nature of the carry onto LIVING WATERS. Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, LIVING WATERS would have finished ahead of LUCRETIUS and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Trainer M Prinsloo's deposit was refunded.  
c)	Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with SEA OF GALILEE in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.  
d)	In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SEA OF GALILEE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer P V Lafferty was advised. (Suspension Dates : 13.09.22 - 12.11.22, bdi)
e)	LUCRETIUS (*C F Dicken), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Hewitson advised (NS).
