THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CARNELO (J P van der Merwe), BURGESS (*K A Brewer), and PRINCE OF PRIDE (C Habib) were slow losing one length. b) SKY RUNNER (*P Mxoli) and NORTHERN KING (R Munger) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. c) HEARTS THUNDER (J R Syster) was stubborn loading. Trainer B Webber was advised to re-school this colt prior to its next engagement. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HEARTS THUNDER (J R Syster) and NORTHERN KING (R Munger) came together and bumped shortly after the start. b) SKY RUNNER (*P Mxoli) was bumped out by PRINCE OF PRIDE (C Habib) which jumped out leaving the stalls. c) HEARTS THUNDER (J R Syster) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. d) BURGESS (*K A Brewer) collapsed and died shortly after the finish line. e) PRAGMATIST (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
