Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 400m, WE ALL CHOMIES (S Khumalo) was brushed out marginally by HAMPTON COURT (M Yeni) which rolled out. Thereafter, when racing in closing proximity to the finish-line, HAMPTON COURT (M Yeni) and WE ALL CHOMIES (S Khumalo) brushed on two occasions. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Trainer K Naidoo on behalf of the third placed horse (WE ALL CHOMIES) against the winner (HAMPTON COURT) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at its decision, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, WE ALL CHOMIES (S Khumalo) would have finished ahead of HAMPTON COURT (M Yeni), therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Trainer K Naidoo's deposit was refunded. b) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with UMTHOMBO WOLWAZI in the running and as result did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) HAMPTON COURT (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) MASTER KEEKU : Severe post-race distress. b) UMTHOMBO WOLWAZI : Coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None
