THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JACK AND GINGER (JP van der Merwe) was stubborn loading. b) KEEPINGTHEPEACE (X Ndlovu) was nervous in the stalls and fly-jumped leaving the stalls. c) AMELL (J Mphanya), CRAFTY HEART (R Munger) and THE REFLEX (T Gould) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AMELL (J Mphanya) pulled hard in the early stages. b) Jockey T Gould reported that THE REFLEX took no interest in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that KEEPINGTHEPEACE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) YOUNG NELSON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
