THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STORM CHASER (JP van der Merwe) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with LOVE LIES (M Mjoka). b) SAVANNAH WINTER (R Munger) jumped outwards and made contact with the front gate leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey Y Ramzan reported that he felt something amiss with VARIETY BREEZE. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. b) Jockey M Mjoka reported that LOVE LIES did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) VARIETY BREZE (Y Ramzan) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) d) VEGAS GOLD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
