Race 1: #THISISRACING WELCOMES YOU WORK RIDERS MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) (For Maiden Fillies and Mares)

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TWICE IN CAMDEN (+C Simpson) jumped slow losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	BRAZILIAN STORM (+P Mlangeni) over-raced in the early and middle stages.	
b) 	After being slow away, TWICE IN CAMDEN (+C Simpson) was switched out at the 1900m and as a consequence raced wide around the turn and in isolation on the outside of the field from the 1000m.
	Workrider Simpson in the presence of Workrider representative Mr M Mienie appeared before the Board and was advised that his ride was not of an acceptable standard.  Mr Mienie has undertaken to address race riding tactics with Workrider Simpson.
c)	At approximately the 1700m, STORM JEWEL (+T Matsoele) was eased off the heels of SILK GARDEN (+C Mabaya) which was switched in.
	Workrider C Mabaya was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of SILK GARDEN, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to STORM JEWEL (+T Matsoele) when he switched in at the 1700m.  Workrider Mabaya signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in One Workrider race.
Date of Suspension:  27 October 2022. 
d)	At approximately the 600m, STORM JEWEL (+T Matsoele) was switched in carrying JANE WILSON (+S Mkhumbuzi) inwards onto BATIK (+T Lukhele) which then clipped the heels of FRENCH KITTEN (+N Ngqwangi).
Workrider T Matsoele was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of STORM JEWEL, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to runners on his inside at approximately the 600m.  Workrider Matsoele signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in One Workrider race. 
Date of Suspension:  27 October 2022.
e)	Workrider M Duba reported that MOONLIT RUBY coughed in running.  The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f)	In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning MOONLIT RUBY, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority.  Trainer B Webber advised (NHA).
g)	In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning STORM JEWEL, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority.  Trainer B Webber advised (NHA).
h)	IDEAL FUTURE (+X Ngcobo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer L Kruger advised (AH).

WORKRIDER CHANGES:

a)	FRENCH KITTEN was ridden by Workrider N Ngqwangi (declared 6 October 2022 at 10H28).
b)	BATIK was ridden by Workrider T Lukhele.


RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:

a)	IDEAL FUTURE raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 28 September 2022 at 08H39).

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:

a)	MOONLIT RUBY bilateral epistaxis. Recommended 60-day suspension.  Trainer B Webber advised (TL).
b)	STORM JEWEL abnormal respiratory noise, coughing and fatigued.  Cut into left front and left hind.
STORM JEWEL unilateral epistaxis.  EIPH confirmed on scope.  Recommended 60-day suspension.  Trainer B Webber advised (MB).
c)	SASSY scalped left hind.
