THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LOVE LIES (R Munger) was nervous in the stalls. b) ZIG ZAG (T Gould) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In the concluding stages DUKE OF ORANGE (JP van der Merwe), which was hanging in from the 300m, rolled in and brushed CRUZADOR (L Mxothwa). b) VISTA NOVA (M Mjoka) shifted out in the latter stages and had to be straightened. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that ALINGALONGA felt uncomfortable in its action. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with LOVE LIES and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) VISTA NOVA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
