Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MASTER SUPREME (M Mjoka) was stubborn loading and slow into stride. b) WINGS OF FIRE (L Mxothwa) jumped awkwardly. c) ASSURED (S Khathi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey S Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ASSURED more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey S Khathi used his crop, his recent record and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level. b) In view of the performance of CANE LIME 'N SODA (JP van der Merwe) (Betting 5/1 ; Distance 7.55) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) JACOB'S LADDER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
