THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HEPHAESTUS (M Thackeray) was stubborn loading and thereafter, slow losing one length. Trainer D C Pretorius was advised to reschool this colt prior to his next engagement (PHvdW). b) LABRAUSCO (*P Mxoli) was slow losing one length. c) OTTO LUYKEN (R Munger) and SUPER WORLD (R Danielson) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HEPHAESTUS (M Thackeray), which proved difficult to settle in the early stages, commenced to give ground to the field from the 350m. b) ALABASTER (M Khan) took an awkward stride after making contact with the inside running rail at approximately the 1350m. c) KING OF ROME (C Zackey) hung out in the concluding stages. d) KING OF ROME (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee N Houdalakis was advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
