Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DOG DETACHMENT (S Khathi) was nervous in the stalls, reared and fell over backwards, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn. b) GOOM GOOM (JP van der Merwe) was kicked in the stalls, taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn. c) NELLIE BLY (M Mjoka) was injured in the stalls when DOG DETACHMENT (S Khathi) reared and fell over, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn. d) KILMONIVAIG (R Munger) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. e) GREEK MAFIA (*RA Venniker) and HORSEY (R Fourie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KILMONIVAIG dislodged Jockey R Munger leaving the parade ring without incident. The filly cantered back to the saddling area, was taken in hand, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race. b) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, SEISMIC EVENT (M Yeni) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which the course farrier was unable to replace. In consultation with Trainer WGC Miller, the right front shoe was removed. However, after examination by the course veterinary surgeon, this gelding was found to be not striding out and was withdrawn. The Stipendiary Stewards then delayed the start of this race to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets. c) The start was then further delayed due to the late scratchings of GOOM GOOM (JP van der Merwe), DOG DETACHMENT (S Khathi) and NELLIE BLY (M Mjoka). d) KILMONIVAIG (R Munger) was hanging out from the 400m. e) In view of the report from the starter regarding DOG DETACHMENT (S Khathi), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 15/10/2022 to 21/10/2022 inclusive). DOG DETACHMENT may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) HORSEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
