THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	ORION'S STAR (N Patel) lost one length. 
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	WHIZ BANG (C Ngcobo) was squeezed out shortly after the start. Thereafter, MAYA'S CAT (A Mgudlwa) was tightened on the outside of MEETATTHEWINDSOR (A Arries). 
b)	CAPTAIN SPIRIT (S Moodley) was hanging out from the 350m. 
c)	At the 150m, ZAKHO (C Habib) was steadied off the heels of MAYA'S CAT (A Mgudlwa) which was carried in marginally by MIRACULOUS MAN (T Godden) which rolled in. 
d)	At the 100m, PRINCE OF TIDES (J Gates) was inconvenienced on the inside of CASH CRUSADE (*S Hlengwa) which shifted in sharply and was immediately corrected. 
e)	In view of the performance FUTURE OF ENERGY (*R Venniker) (5.25 lengths, 63/100 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.   
f)	Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse CAPTAIN SPIRIT more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse CAPTAIN SPIRIT, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed.
g)	CAPTAIN SPIRIT (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M Miller advised (NS).
