THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HUMBLE TUNE (*RA Venniker) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length. b) WITH OUR BLESSING (S Devoy) fly-jumped leaving the stalls and was slow into stride. c) VIDA FUTURA (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) MAGNUM FIRE (R Munger) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In a slow run race, VAN GOGH (L Mxothwa), ALMAS TOWER (M Yeni) and DIRTY MARTINI (*S Sosibo) proved difficult to settle. b) VIDA FUTURA (R Fourie) was allowed to race forward and was able to race to the front of the field leaving the 1500m. c) At the 800m AMERICAN LANDING (S Khumalo) was steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of ALMAS TOWER (M Yeni) and ABSOLUTELY FAB (M Mjoka). d) Leaving the 500m AMERICAN LANDING (S Khumalo) and ALMAS TOWER (M Yeni) brushed when racing tight between VAN GOGH (L Mxothwa) and DIRTY MARTINI (*S Sosibo), which rolled in and had to be straightened. Apprentice S Sosibo appeared before the Board and was advised to react sooner when his mounts require straightening in similar circumstances. e) In view of the performance of HUMBLE TUNE (*RA Venniker) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the performance of WITH OUR BLESSING (S Devoy) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. g) In view of the performance of ALMAS TOWER (M Yeni) (Betting 5/2 ; Distance 10.00) Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. h) MAGNUM FIRE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
