THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ONE BITE AT A TIME (T Gould) was stubborn loading. b) POWER SURGE (*S Sosibo) jumped outwards. c) DAMMI (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the thirty-minute interval between races. b) ONE BITE AT A TIME (T Gould) was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TRACK COMMANDER (S Khumalo) when bumped outwards by POWER SURGE (*S Sosibo) shortly after the start. c) DAMMI (R Fourie) and MIKE THE PILOT (E Webber) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. d) Jockey M Mjoka (BORN A STAR) dropped his crop at the 250m. e) Jockey T Gould reported that he felt something amiss with ONE BITE AT A TIME. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) ROSE OF BAYEUX, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised.
