THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	GIMME A PRINCE (K de Melo) was restless in the stalls, taken out, examined by the veterinary surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, SPRING AWAKENING (S Mbhele) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	BEREAVE (C Zackey) was hanging out in the latter stages.
c)	At the 50m SURJAY (L Mxothwa) rolled out marginally and brushed RESONATE (A Domeyer).
d)	Jockey S Mbhele reported that he felt something amiss with SPRING AWAKENING. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Jockey C Habib reported that AMBIORIX took no interest in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	Jockey G Wright reported that BARZALONA changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	In view of the performance of FUTURE PRINCE (G van Niekerk) (Betting 5/1 ; Distance 4.95) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
h)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding GIMME A PRINCE (K de Melo), Trainer DM Kannemeyer will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
i)	RESONATE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (JF)
