THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	UNCLE LUCKY (*R Venniker) commenced to over-race in the early and middle stages. 
b)	At approximately the 200m, ROY'S DOMINO (*M Katjedi) was carried in by UNCLE LUCKY (*R Venniker) which was hanging in badly, proving difficult to assist from the 400m. 
c)	Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse BLITZEN more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey J Gates struck the horse BLITZEN, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed.
d)	SON OF RAJ (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt advised (NS).
