Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLOWERBOMB (C Maujean) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS (G Lerena) and ROCKETS RED GLARE (J P van der Merwe) were bumped in by KISS ME CAPTAIN (D De Gouveia), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. Thereafter, Jockey G Lerena (BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS) and Jockey J P van der Merwe (ROCKETS RED GLARE) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective fillies in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. b) At approximately the 700m, BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS (G Lerena) was switched to the outside to race in isolation of the field. c) FLOWERBOMB (C Maujean), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) WHAT A HONEY was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (declared 27 October 2022 at 11H08). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) ROCKETS RED GLARE cut into left front lateral aspect of the mid-cannon bone. c) KISS ME CAPTAIN cut into right hind and cut on the medial aspect of the left hind cannon bone. SCRATCHED: a) MAY QUEEN insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
