THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	FLYING ASTERIX (L Mxothwa) was stubborn loading.
b)	FOOT SOLDIER (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls.
c)	FORT DAWN (S Khathi), GREEN MANDARIN (C Habib) and PERFECTION (K de Melo) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a) 	In a slow-run race FLYING ASTERIX (L Mxothwa), which proved difficult to settle, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of THE LAST BELLE (W Agrella). As a consequence, TWICE A SAINT (M Yeni) was carried outwards onto PERFECTION (K de Melo) at the 1400m. Thereafter PERFECTION (K de Melo), which was left racing wide without cover, was allowed to race to the front of the field.
b)	At the 200m GREEN MANDARIN (C Habib) changed stride, shifted inwards and had to be steadied away from the heels of THE LAST BELLE (W Agrella), which shifted out and had to be straightened. 
c)	PERFECTION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
